A Soulful Story for Nature Lovers of All Ages
This is the story about a relationship between an insect and a human being. It is a story of serendipity and delight, respect and wonder, and the ultimate understanding that we are all truly connected by an invisible and sacred web.
A praying mantis mysteriously dropped from above one early October day. I named him Arthur. He spent almost a month with me, and during that time we formed a mutually curious and tender bond. The photographs I made when we were together became the inspiration to share this story, a soulful, quiet account of our connection.
Arthur, the Amazing Mantis is a beautifully told story of two gentle souls that find one another, connecting through spirit and the universal language of love. It took me back to a place of childlike innocence and remembering the simple, sacred, quiet aspects of life that if we are moving too fast may go unnoticed. —Amy Norris
By taking the time to carefully observe and connect with a tiny creature that so many of us would have overlooked, Elsa Kendall has given us a magically microcosmic story of love, purpose, loss, and transcendence. Her heartfelt story and beautiful "be-here-now" documentary photographs powerfully connect the reader to little Arthur, the truly amazing mantis — and to a world of wonder available to all of us if we just take the time to slow down, stop, look and care. —George Lawrence
